Radiant Oak Academy has partnered with afiDE Ghana to set up a 21-workstation computerlab, enhancing technology-driven education in the school. As part of the partnership, afiDE Ghana will also train and support the school’s computing facilitators, equipping them with the skills to effectively teach and utilize the modern computers and software provided.

afiDE Ghana will also train and support the computing facilitators of the school to better understand how to teach and use the modern computers and software setup by RecellGhana Computer labs. Additionally, Radiant Oak Academy will have access to a 24-hour help desk, a backup battery, hardware and software maintenance, replacement of faulty equipment, and remote monitoring to make sure the computer lab is fully functioning.

After RGC installed the computers for Radiant Oak Academy

With the fully equipped computerlab, Radiant Oak Academy can now integrate technology in their teaching and learning, which in the end will help the students to be digitally inclined and prepare them for the future. Every educational institution’s dream is to provide high-quality education to its learners. In this data-driven and digital era, education without a modern and fully equipped ICT lab, is like using a computer without a screen. Radiant Oak Academy is taking a bold step to partner with afiDE Ghana will not only empower its learners with technological knowledge and skills but will also help eradicate or reduce the technological gap in our Ghanaian society.

afiDE Ghana has also conducted a base training session for the educators of the school to initiate the use of the computer lab. The training covered the basic units of RGC’s computerlabs. The training took place on 11th February 2025 at the premises of Radiant Oak Academy.

Base Training held at Radiant Oak Academy

RGC offers a comprehensive four-stage training program designed to help equip educators with the technological knowledge and skills needed in today’s era. This training will enable educators to integrate technology effectively into their teaching and enhance their productivity in the workplace. The teacher training is valuable for educators, as data indicates that many teachers in Ghana are not technologically or digitally proficient, resulting in a lack of the necessary computing resources to effectively teach students. Base Training:

The base training focuses on empowering teachers with the essential skills to effectively utilize our computer labs for teaching. This foundational training ensures educators can confidently navigate the basics and integrate digital tools into their lessons. Bronze Training: The training is designed specifically for computing facilitators and ICT coordinators; the training enables mastery of the National ICT Curriculum and the full spectrum of our application landscape.

It emphasizes challenge-based and project-based learning, preparing facilitators to lead innovative and interactive digital education. Silver Training: The silver training is also tailored for teachers of other subjects; this training demonstrates how to leverage our computer labs to enhance lessons in STEM, geography, history, and more.

It equips educators with the skills to integrate digital resources into their teaching, enriching the learning experience across diverse disciplines. Gold Training: This is aimed at experienced computer lab teachers and coordinators; this level focuses on developing them into trainers for their peers.

Participants learn to deliver the BASE training, fostering a community of knowledgeable and skilled educators who can support their colleagues in digital teaching.

Mikel International School Partners with afiDE Ghana to Advance Digital Education

Mikel International School, located in Afienya, has taken a significant step toward enhancing digital learning by partnering with afiDE Ghana (RGC).  Through this collaboration, the school now benefits from a state-of-the-art 21-workstation computer lab equipped with stable internet, Ghana Education Service-approved educational software, and a central server—all designed to promote digital literacy and modern computing education.

As part of this partnership, afiDE Ghana will provide comprehensive training and ongoing technical support to the school’s computing facilitators. This initiative ensures that educators are well-equipped to effectively integrate technology into their teaching, maximizing the potential of the newly installed computer lab to enrich learning experiences.

After the Installation of the Computers

Beyond the installation, Mikel International School will also receive a suite of essential support services, including a 24-hour help desk, a backup battery system, hardware and software maintenance, equipment replacement, and remote monitoring. These services guarantee that the ICT lab remains fully functional, providing uninterrupted access to digital learning resources. With a fully equipped and well-maintained computer lab, Mikel International School can now focus on delivering high-quality computing lessons aligned with Ghana’s National ICT Curriculum. This initiative will empower students with the technological skills and knowledge needed to navigate and excel in today’s digital world.

Bridging the Digital Divide in Education

In an era where digital literacy is fundamental to academic and professional success, schools must prioritize access to modern computing facilities. A lack of digital education threatens both students’ futures and the nation’s overall development.

By taking a bold step to integrate technology into its curriculum, Mikel International School is not only preparing its students for a technology-driven future but also contributing to reducing the digital gap in Ghanaian society.

Magmount Zion International School Advances to Digital Education

Magmount Zion International School has partnered with afiDE Ghana (RGC) to advance to digital education. The partnership helped Magmount Zion International School transition to a 21-workstation computerlab which comes with a server, thin client, internet, an uninterrupted power supply (UPS), router with monthly data bundle, Ghana’s ICT curriculum software, and teacher training.

Some of this software is Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Publisher. Other software includes GIMP for editing images, TIP10 for typing lessons, Scratch for coding, and some generic applications such as File Manager, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, File Explorer, Recycle Bin, and PDF Reader. RGC will provide remote monitoring, maintenance, replacement, and updating of the software so that the teachers and the learners of the school can consistently have access to a well-equipped computerlab.

afiDE Ghana also conducted a base training for the educators at the school after the installation of the computerlab. The training was to empower all the teachers of the school with the basic ICT skills they need to train their learners to help them acquire and improve their ICT skills.

Most educators in Ghana, including computing facilitators, lack the basic and required computing knowledge and skills; therefore, they resort to theory-based teaching instead of practical lessons. Due to this, learners do not experience a full practical experience of the subject. Such a situation places students in difficult situations after school where they find themselves lacking the necessary digital skills to compete in the job market.

Schools should take advantage of this opportunity to get quality digital education in their institution, which will boost the image of the school, increase career opportunities, and aim for the development of the nation in the long run. You can reach us at 053 511 1599.

Odumse D/A Basic School Gets a Quality and Sustainable Computer Lab to Enhance Digital Education.

Odumse D/A Basic School has partnered with afiDE Ghana for quality and sustainable Digital Education in the school. The partnership aims to empower both educators and learners with the digital literacy they need for the technological, digital, and data-driven world.

Odumse’s transition started when afiDE Ghana installed 21 workstations with stable internet connections. The computing facilitator will have access to a dedicated workstation, while the learners will have access to 20 workstations. Each student can have access to one workstation during the lessons.

After the installation of the computers

For the transition to be sustainable, afiDE Ghana will provide maintenance, replacement, repair, and teacher training for the school. RGC provides four stages of training for partner schools: base training, bronze training, silver training and gold training.

RGC’s initiative takes into account the high cost and headache of maintaining a modern computerlab for schools in Ghana. RGC is responsible for the smooth operation of the computerlab, so that partner schools can focus on providing effective and quality digital education to their learners, which will prepare them for the data and digital-driven world, and in the end help the nation develop.

After a successful installation, RGC conducted base training for the educators at Odumse DA School on the 21st of February 2025. The trainer took the educators through the basic setup of RGC’s Computerlab. They further discussed the hardware and software architecture of the labs.
